Cyber bullying is defined as: threats or other offensive behavior sent online to a victim or sent or posted online about the victim for others to see. (Wolak, Mitchell, Finkelhor et al., 2006).

Cyber bullying takes many forms and it is not normal teenager behavior. Here are some examples of cyber bullying:

  • Any email, IM, social networking comment that threatens
  • Rumors posted anywhere in the social spaces for others to see.
  • Fake profiles that impersonate you and represent you wrongly
  • Profile Hacking allowing someone to communicate as if they were you using your profile.

Cyber bullying can occur on social sites, in text or IM messages, via email or in forums or chat rooms.
